Connecting European Earth observation to international markets

Funded by the EASME under the COSME Cluster Go International programme, the ConnectEO project aims to promote and foster market access between the European Earth Observation SMEs and two target countries: Australia and Chile.

The project focus on the use of EO addressing business opportunities and key socio-economic & environmental challenges in the maritime and agricultural sectors.

The ConnectEO Project Structure

The project is structured in 2 eligibility phases for participant SMEs:

Phase 1: Expression of Interest (E.O.I.)  

Phase 2: Competitive call for SMEs to participate in the trade missions

Eligibility 

  • To be a SME according to the European Commission definition
  • To have activity related to EO in the relevant downstream sector
  • To develop data products/services with possible application in preferably agriculture, maritime, but potentially in other sectors (such as forestry and mining)

Phase one - Expression of interest
February 15th 2021 - March 31st 2021

The ConnectEO Expression of interest (EOI) represents the first opportunity for European SMEs to express their interest in benefiting from a range of support activities:

  • Capacity building webinars
  • Relevant background information
  • Market overview, trend & cultural aspects
  • IP strategies
  • Networking & contacts
  • Opportunity to candidate in the Call for trade mission to Chile & Australia

Phase two - Call for participate in Trade missions
Launch June 2021

During the second phase, the selected SMEs will be invited to submit an application to participate in trade missions in Australia and Chile. 

  • SMEs will benefit from predetermined funding available through the ConnectEO project to support the trade missions
  • Up to 20 SMEs will be selected 

Note that due to the Covid-19 sanitary situation, trade missions are subject to confirmation.

Timeline

  • The EoI will be launched on February 15th 2021 and close on March 31st 2021. Applications may be submitted at any time during this period.
  • Evaluation will take place in April 2021
  • The Call for SMEs to participate in trade mission will be launched in June 2021 and close on September 2021
  •  Evaluation will take place in October 2021
  • Selection in November 2021
  • Preparation of SMEs November onwards
  • Trade mission along 2022
